VR Therapy

Many people have heard about Virtual Reality or VR, but not everyone has experienced it for themselves as yet. VR is commonly used for entertainment purposes, providing an immersive experience such that the user feels like they’re actually in the environment that they’re looking at.

Using VR for the treatment of anxiety disorders, phobias and other mental health conditions is an emerging form of treatment, and one that’s gaining in popularity and use due to its applicability, efficacy and ease of use for patients.

At Healthy Mind Solutions our therapists are incorporating VR in their treatment for patients who suffer from a wide range of anxiety disorders and conditions, including:

  • Social Anxiety

  • Generalised Anxiety Disorder

  • Panic Disorder

  • Fears and Phobias

  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

  • Adjustment Disorder

  • Other stress-induced conditions

At Healthy Mind Solutions we have two types of VR Therapy, and utilise either or a combination approach, based on the patient’s unique needs:

  1. Virtual Reality Exposure Therapy (VRET)

We develop specific Virtual Reality based treatment programs using exposure therapy for various anxiety conditions.

  2. Virtual Reality Immersion Therapy (VRIT)

Patients receive guided relaxation, breathing and meditative experiences, with immersion in tranquil spaces and environments that are made possible through virtual reality.

Treatment is provided in-house using the latest VR headsets, headphones and applications.

Take a look at the trailer for our latest application - Illustrious!

Imagine being able to draw and paint with an endless array of colours and tools at your disposal. Then imagine being able to do that in any direction, with space itself as your canvas. Finally, imagine being able to also do all that with friends and loved ones in the same virtual space. This is the experience that our latest VR application has brought to life.

Illustrious combines the joyous pursuit of creativity and social interaction in a fully integrated way. The benefits are not restricted to leisure and enjoyment, as the experience is also an excellent way for neurodiverse and other clients to engage socially in a non-confrontational manner, with application for individual and group therapy.
